Dear Friends and Customers,
Like everyone else, Edgecomb’s Auto Sales and Service is very concerned about the pandemic that is spreading throughout the United States. As a small local business and members of the Charlottesville community we want to make sure that we make every reasonable attempt toward limiting the spread of this novel coronavirus.
As of today, March 17, Edgecomb’s is not planning to shut its doors. We are aware that many people, including medical personnel and delivery drivers, may need the services we provide even as many others self-quarantine. In the event that a government directive is released, we will follow all indicated protocol, including closing if directed, or staying open if our services are deemed essential. In the meantime, we want to reassure everyone that we are taking every precaution possible to limit the possibility of exposure from having necessary car repairs done. Our technicians are using a new pair of gloves with every car that they work on, all parts of the car that are interacted with are disinfected and any employee that shows any symptoms of sickness is being sent home.

For any customer that would prefer to avoid direct interaction due to self-quarantine or simply to limit potential infection, we have a key drop off that can be used instead of speaking with a service writer and you can call in to let us know what you need done on your car. We are also offering the option of picking up a customer’s car, bringing it to the shop to have the work done and then having it returned without the customer ever having to speak face to face with a single employee. How many people we can offer this service to will necessarily be limited due to our nature as a small business and the possibility of reduced staff, as our employees are offered the option of staying home.
The general feeling is that this is going to get worse before it gets better, and it may be that in the next couple of days or weeks that Edgecomb’s will need to shut down completely due to changing circumstances. Until that happens, we intend to continue to provide the personalized, quality service that we always have and hope that everyone stays safe and healthy during this difficult time.
